From the moment I first laid hands on my mom's trusty point-and-shoot camera, photography has been more than a hobby—it's become a true passion that has followed me through my entire life. As a child, I fondly remember capturing everything from the corners of our home to the sunsets outside, not to mention those candid snapshots of family and friends that are now cherished memories.

Once I was a teenager, I saved up enough money to buy my own point-and-shoot which also happened to be a waterproof camera. Oh, the adventures we had! From snapping underwater adventures at my family cottage to nostalgic college evenings with friends, to sunny poolside moments on vacation, that camera was my trusty sidekick. Alas, its journey ended on the unforgiving concrete of a Florida pool deck, and with that, my photography took a brief pause.

Fast forward to 2015, and my passion reignited during my Web Design college course in Oshawa, ON. It was there that I discovered the magic of bringing a 'real' DSLR camera into the world. This wasn't just a hobby anymore; it was a calling. This passion only intensified post-college when I acquired my own Canon T4i, delving into portrait photography and even capturing a few weddings for friends.

However, as I navigated the challenges of client acquisition, I steered my focus towards urban landscapes taking photos of architecture and the vibrant streets of downtown Ottawa. It was around this time that I created my Instagram alias, "Elcy" (like my initials, LC!). This journey led to the creation of many photo walks and the privilege of connecting with tons of incredibly talented local photographers in the Ottawa area.

Relocating to Arnprior in 2020 opened a new chapter in my photography story. I discovered an unexpected love for old barns amidst the rustic charm of the Ottawa Valley. I founded the 'Renfrew County Photos' Facebook group, which has blossomed into a thriving community of 11,000+ members. I truly love looking through the posts every day and seeing how many talented photographers we have in our area.

My journey took a tender detour in 2022 with the birth of my daughter. Balancing motherhood and photography was a whole new adventure, and I gradually found my rhythm again, embracing the ever-changing landscape of Instagram and even venturing into a little bit of video content.

Today, my heart pulls me back to where it all began: capturing people and their stories. My focus is on creating joyous, memorable experiences for my clients, filled with genuine laughter and candid moments. I believe in keeping my photo sessions relaxed and authentic, capturing the essence of who you are rather than fitting each client into a single-shaped cookie cutter.
